John DeRossett |
Head Coach
In 2005
Coach John B. DeRossett became the all-time winningest coach in
Blackcat Football history, getting his 73rd win over the Leslie Co.
Eagles in the 1st round of the 2004 play-offs. The Blackcats,
while under the guidance of Coach Derossett, have a District record of
63-12 and a State Play-off record of 23-15.
Coach DeRossett entered his 16th season as the Blackcat head coach and
each year the Blackcats have made the State Play-offs. Coach
DeRossett has coached several outstanding players that have gone on to
excel at the college level. Two players, Jeremy Caudill and
Nathen Leslie, have played professionally. Coach DeRossett is
married to Linda Marie DeRossett (1984 Football Homecoming
Queen). Linda is Co-Director of Therapy Services at Pikeville
Medical Center, John and Linda have two children Alexis Ashley, and
Allyson Kate, the reside at Bull Creek.

Assistant Coach
Coach DeRossett is a 1992 graduate PHS, currently teaches
P.E. at Prestonsburg High School. He is a 1998 graduate of Eastern Kentucky
University, earning a Degree in Physical Education and a Minor in Biology. Coach
James also holds a Masters degree from Union College. He is married to Courtney.

Coach Hackworth is a
graduate of Morehead State University. He is the Technology Coordinator at Prestonsburg
Elementary, married to Dee, they have one daughter,
Taylor.

Coach Johnson is a
1984 graduate of Prestonsburg High School. He is a lawyer and
married to Rose.

Coach Jamerson, a graduate
of Pikeville College, is the Track Coach at PHS, and teaches P.E. at Allen
Elementary. He has four children, Nicholas,
Emily, Clay and Joseph.

Joe Chirico |
Assistant Coach
Coach Chirico is a 1993 Marshall University
graduate where he played free safety. He played in three national title
games winning one of those in 1992. He is 2nd all-time in interceptions
with 13. Joe works for Chapman Printing and is married to Ashley. They
have three daughters: Sydney, Presley and Isabella and one son, Joseph Brayden.

Coach Howell is a
1989 graduate of PHS and has been the AMS Head Football Coach for 6 years. He is married to
Christy, and they have a daughter, Haley.

Coach
Is a graduate of McDowell High & Morehead University.
He is the Principal of Prestonsburg Elementary.
He is married to Amy Rose, 1988 graduate of PHS. They have
four children: Anna, Ryan, Emma & Kyle.
Brent works with the film crew.

Coach
Graduate of Allen Central High school 1986 and
Alice Lloyd College, with a Masters Degree in Administration.
He is Assistant Principal at Prestonsburg
Elementary.
Assistant Coach for Freshman & Junior Varsity;
Film Crew and Lineman Coach for Varsity.
Married to Stacey Ousley and they have two
children, Makayla and Chase.

Team Chaplain
Arnold has
provided the Blackcats with guidance and devotional services for the
past several years. He is married to Libby and they have two sons, Ryan and
Brent. He also has two grandchildren, Blake and Celeste. |

Dr. Burchett is a graduate of PHS, Transylvania
University and UK Medical College. He has greatly enjoyed his involvement with
the Blackcats on the sidelines for 20+ years. He is married to Becky, and they
have three children: Andrew, Molly, and Michael. |

Ernest graduated from Stephen F. Austin State
University in Texas and currently is the Director of Physical Therapy at
Highlands Regional Medical Center. Ernest has enjoyed working with the Blackcats
since 2000. He and his wife Debbie have two sons, Blake and Gage. |
